Off-Ice is a critical part of all figure skaters' training regimen
Our skating-specific dance classes are offered through the Park City Ice Arena at the Park City Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center (PC MARC) during the school year, in semester-long sessions. Summer programming may also include dance classes at the Park City Ice Arena.
This creative movement program is intended to teach figure skaters how to move their bodies to enhance their figure skating training. A sampling of different styles of dance (jazz, ballet, contemporary, hop-hop, etc.) will be explored as well as stretching and flexibility. Skaters must register for the entire session of classes. This is not a drop-in program.

Dress Code
Skaters should dress in athletic attire with hair pulled back and away from the face. Socks, ballet shoes or bare feet may be necessary based on the style of dance.
Students are expected to arrive on time. If unforeseen circumstances cause a tardiness, please have your child wait outside the door until there is a break in the music. We are fortunate to have use of the PC MARC studio throughout the academic year. Their rules include no touching any of the weight room equipment, no street shoes, and no food or drink other than a secure top water bottle.
Registration Info
Off-Ice Strength & Conditioning classes are run through the Park City Ice Arena, by FSCPC coaches.
Registration is through the Daysmart system.
Figure skating demands incredible strength and stamina. Off-ice conditioning helps skaters develop the core, leg, and upper body strength required for complex jumps and spins. It also enhances cardiovascular endurance, allowing skaters to maintain peak performance throughout their routines. Strength and conditioning also play a very important role in reducing the likelihood of injury.
Flexibility training is also crucial for all figure skaters. Not only does a stretching routine allow figure skaters to perform those awe-inspiring movements you see on the ice, but maintaining flexibility also reduces the risk of injury and supports skaters' balance on the ice.
FSCPC Off-ice classes vary week to week and instructors rotate through. Class content will focus on jumps, strength & conditioning, dance, yoga, and stretch.
